Actor y cantante estadounidense. Durante su niñez fue cantante, guitarrista y guía en los bailes "square dance (baile country estadounidense). Realizó presentaciones en vivo y en programas radiales con diversos grupos antes de colaborar en la formación del grupo vocal "Sons of the Pioneers. A continuación actuó en westerns con Gene Autry, a quien reemplazó como "Rey de los cowboys tiempo en que Autry se enlistó para la guerra. Entre sus películas se cuentan Tumbling Tumbleweeds (1935), Red River Valley (1941) y Yellow Rose of Texas (1944). Actuó en varias de ellas con su esposa, Dale Evans, a menudo cabalgando su famoso caballo, Trigger. Además protagonizó su programa de radio The Roy Rogers Show (1944–55) y la serie de televisión del mismo nombre (1951–57).
